It’s time for a fresh perspective

As you will know, Vitality partners with many different sports and teams. We are particularly proud of the support we give initiatives that inspire and encourage women to get and keep active. You can find out more about our future plans in this area in a note from our Director of the Vitality Champions programme and rugby legend, Maggie Alphonsi, below. Wishing all of you a happy and healthy rest of the year.

Neville Koopowitz CEO, Vitality

W elcome to your first digital edition of the Vitality magazine. Within it you’ll find a lot of interactive and exciting content, including a fascinating podcast on resilience, something which I think we have all needed to draw on this year. This year has undoubtedly been extremely challenging across all aspects of our lives. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of looking after ourselves, the health of our family, and that of wider society too. Our core purpose, to make people healthier and to enhance and protect their lives, has never felt more relevant and important, and supporting our members to live healthier lives has been an absolute priority for us throughout the pandemic. We continue to be dedicated to that purpose, and that’s why we’ve packed the magazine with practical advice to help you get active and look after yourself. Whether it’s doing a fun family workout routine, using mealtimes to build connections with family and friends, or taking up a new hobby, we think there is something in here for everyone.

Vitality support for women in sport
Lockdown turned our lives upside down as we juggled home, work and schooling – and tried to keep ourselves and our families active. So it comes as no surprise that 32% of women who took part in a survey said that they were unable to prioritise exercise during lockdown.* In recent years women’s sport has taken off, in ways I could only have dreamt of in my rugby-playing days. There are now so many high-profile female sports stars, showcasing different sports, to inspire us and the next generation. Nobody wants this incredible progress to be threatened by the pandemic. And that is why Vitality is committed to doing even more to support and contribute to the future wellbeing of women’s sport. So, over the coming weeks and months, listen out for exciting sponsorship announcements from us, alongside inspiring stories and news about women in sport from Vitality Ambassadors. As they say, ‘watch this space’ – or rather, Vitality’s social channels.
